5 Recommended Skincare Products (part 1)

With so many, allegedly, wonder ingredients out there on the skincare market, it’s all the more important to see past the razzmatazz and focus on what really works - and, more importantly, what works for you.

So to make things that bit easier, here’s Doctor Caroline with her top 5 Skincare Recommendations.

Stay tuned for Part 2 🦋

  1. SPF

As long as it’s Factor 50 and 5 Star UVA it will likely do a good job. The best products are genuinely the ones that are cosmetically acceptable. Many are too heavy, greasy or chalky to wear on the face - this is why some are more expensive.

  2. TRETINOIN

The king of anti-aging products. It's 20 times more potent than retinol, has a much better evidence base for treating signs of aging, and we find it is pretty well tolerated. It also helps with acne and pigmentation, which is a bonus.

  3. AHA's

Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Lactic Acid - they all help to brighten the skin, improve texture and promote cell turnover. They can also be helpful for acne too. It's worth asking a skincare specialist which one's better for your skin type.

  4. HYDROQUINONE

Not needed for everyone, but if you have a pigmentation problem this baby's a game changer.

  5. VITAMIN C

The new guy on the block with a pretty good evidence base for tackling fine lines & wrinkles. Lots of different strengths and formulas in the market, but not always well tolerated so some people need a gentle introduction. Remember that not all skincare ingredients might be suitable for your skin type so Consultation is essential. I also recommend trying before you buy so you don't spend a fortune on online products that make a mess of your skin.
