5 Things To Ask When Choosing Filler

Clients often come to us with questions about Dermal Fillers - they’re all the same, right? Wrong!

Using the correct type is SO important to overall results and longevity, so here’s Doctor Caroline with her 5 things to ask when choosing Filler.

  1. PRICE

You get what you pay for. Scientific research has provided us with some amazing filler products but this type of research is expensive and the best filler companies charge a premium for this patented technology. Older style fillers can literally be made in someone's garage. They're cheaper for a reason.

  2. LONGEVITY

If you're having a Filler procedure, you don't want to be coming back again for it in 3 months. Most good Fillers last around 1 to 2 years.

  3. CAN IT DISSOLVE?

Personally, I only use Hyaluronic Acid Fillers because I know I can dissolve them when something goes wrong. I'm yet to be convinced that other types of fillers are worthwhile. They may offer additional benefits like bioremodeling, but this can be done with other, safer modalities so I tend to stay away from them.

  4. PRODUCT PLACEMENT

Certain types of Fillers are recommended for certain areas of the face. Volumising Fillers work best when placed on the bone for maximum oomph, but if you place them in the lips they finally give a stiff, unnatural appearance.

  5. SAFETY DATA

Even some of the biggest Filler companies have questionable safety data. We're seeing a lot of delayed onset nodules, for example, in certain products. Ask your injector why they've chosen the Filler and do your own research.
