Cosmetic Surgery: Why Choose A Head And Neck Surgeon?

Why might a person choose a head and neck surgeon over someone generally trained in plastic surgery?

It depends on the problem you want treated and how much you value experience in that area. For me, specialising in head and neck surgery means around 80% of my time is spent operating on that part of the body. I have a large amount of experience and feel very comfortable operating there. It requires precision and detailed anatomical knowledge.

That’s not to say that general plastic surgeons can’t do these procedures, but I feel I can operate in this area to a very high standard.

It’s similar to choosing a neurologist versus a GP for epilepsy — both can treat you, but the specialist has deeper expertise. Patients should feel confident asking what experience a surgeon has in the specific area they’re treating.
