What is Profhilo treatment?
Profhilo is an injectable skin rejuvenation treatment that contains a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid, which hydrates the skin and boosts collagen and elastin production.
How does Profhilo skin rejuvenation treatment work?
Profhilo works with your body to produce natural-looking results. Multiple injections are delivered into the skin with a fine needle across the treatment area.
On the face, we deliver injections at 5 points on each side of the face for full facial rejuvenation.
The hyaluronic acid diffuses into the surrounding tissue, where it boosts hydration and works with your skin from within to boost collagen and elastin production, reducing wrinkles, crepey skin, and skin laxity while giving the skin a youthful glow.
Popular treatment areas at our clinic near Glasgow
Our Glasgow patients love the rejuvenating benefits of Profhilo on the face, neck, arms, chest, and legs.
How long does a treatment session last?
The duration of your treatment session will depend on the size of the area being treated, but a session typically lasts around 45 minutes.
How many Profhilo treatments will I need?
We recommend a course of at least two sessions, with a second treatment session a few weeks after the first.
When will I see the full results of treatment?
You may notice visible signs of improvement after a few weeks, but typically patients notice that their skin looks rejuvenated 4 - 6 weeks after the second session, with a significant improvement in radiance and skin laxity.
How long do the skin rejuvenation benefits of Profhilo last?
You can expect your skin to look more refreshed for up to nine months. Many of our Glasgow patients choose to have maintenance treatments every 3 - 6 months to preserve the smoothness, radiance and skin quality of their complexion.
Will I need any downtime?
Minimal downtime is required after Profhilo treatment and our Glasgow patients resume their daily activities straightaway.
Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in the body. It is highly compatible with the tissues and unlikely to produce any adverse effects, but you may experience some temporary side effects for a few hours. You may have some mild bruising, redness, swelling or raised bumps at the injection points, but these will soon subside.
Your skin will need a little extra TLC for a couple of days, and it is a good idea to avoid sun exposure, hot baths and showers for 12 to 24 hours after your treatment. We also recommend that our Glasgow patients avoid touching the treated area and refrain from drinking alcohol for 24 hours after their treatment sessions.
Am I a good candidate for Profhilo?
If you are concerned about the visible signs of ageing like fine lines, wrinkles and skin laxity, or you would just like your skin to have more youthful radiance, then you may be a good candidate for this innovative treatment,
However, there are a few circumstances that may make us advise you against having Profhilo treatments.
These include:
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Being allergic to hyaluronic acid and some other proteins
Having rashes, infections or skin irritation at the injection sites
Suffering from certain medical conditions or taking medications that concern us when we take your medical history
If we find that you are not suitable, we will suggest an appropriate treatment that will make you feel great about your skin.
Is Profhilo similar to dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers and Profhilo are both injectable treatments and contain hyaluronic acid, but they rejuvenate the skin in different ways.
Dermal fillers comprise hyaluronic acid in a gel that adds volume to facial contours and plumps the skin, thereby smoothing lines and wrinkles. The pure hyaluronic acid content also delivers a surge of hydration that makes the skin look more radiant.
Profhilo treatment does not add volume or change the shape of the face. The hyaluronic acid in Profhilo does not stay in one place as in dermal fillers but diffuses into the surrounding tissues to treat a wider area of skin around the injection points.
