Fraxel Isn’t Just Another Laser, Here’s Why Patients Love it
Many people ask me what happens during a Fraxel treatment, so let's walk you through it. First of all, when you come into the clinic, we want to is to make sure your face is nice and clean, meaning it has no makeup or products on it. That includes not having any tanning drops or fake tan on as well. .
We will then apply numbing cream, which you leave on for approximately 60 to 90 minutes. This is to ensure your comfort during the procedure. During the procedure, you'll be given safety goggles to wear and your practitioner will be wearing them as well.
We will then use the laser. The laser works by creating little micro channels in your skin over the treatment area or your area of concern. More often than not, we will work specifically on your areas of concern, but generally treat the whole face as well.
This stimulates your own collagen and elastin production, which will then improve your skin quality and texture. Some people can start to get a glow after about a week, but usually we say that you will see the results typically at 3 to 6 months after your first treatment.
Straight after your treatment, your skin will feel red and hot and generally we apply a cooling mask to the area and then give you some serum away to use after.
The downtime with this procedure is fairly minimal. You will have some redness for a few hours after and then your might feel a little bit swollen. There generally isn't a lot of peeling involved with this and we recommend that after it you just use gentle products on your skin to moisturize it.
