Upper Lid Blepharoplasty: What You Need To Know

The most common procedure people ask for is the Upper Lid Blepharoplasty. This is for people that have quite a significant amount of hooding above their eyes.

What happens is that as we get older, our brows descend a little bit and some of this skin over here will just keep falling down. The first sign is that we're struggling to put our makeup on. You can't wing your eyeliner! If you're putting on mascara, it tends to transfer and go onto your upper lid all the time, which for those of us that suffer with it, you will know exactly what I'm talking about.

So, as it continues on and gets worse, we often find that it gets to the stage where it's hooding over someone's visual field. Actually, it goes so far down that people can't see in their peripheral vision. So, it's not just a cosmetic procedure, it can improve their functional vision as well.

One of the reasons it's so popular is because it's really a relatively straightforward procedure with minimal risks. What the surgeon does is they firstly put some local anaesthetic in. They then mark up a small area of skin of which to remove and often a tiny little bit of fat from in there.

It's done within about an hour and the downtime is usually about 1 to 2 weeks.

People get an amazing cosmetic result from it, the risks are really very low and it will last for many years. For a relatively straightforward procedure with minimal risk, you get really good results and it really can improve people's self-esteem.
